The island of Sri Lanka lives up to its tropical ambience with a large green cover with mixed forests and rainforests. With that comes the abundant wildlife – leopards, elephants, tigers and more. Of these, the elephants play a vital role in the animal life and in turn interest for wildlife enthusiasts. The Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is a big draw for the travellers. They come here to see the conservation work and then head south to the other big destination, Yala. In between are many other swathes of forested land.
