About this journey
This 5-night group itinerary links Sikkim's capital Gangtok with the colonial hill town of Darjeeling, covering both states' signature sights without excess travel time. You fly into Bagdogra, drive up to Gangtok for monastery visits and a permit-based excursion to Tsomgo Lake, then cross into Darjeeling for a pre-dawn Tiger Hill sunrise, tea garden walks and a ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway toy train. Hotels are comfortable 3-star properties on double-sharing with breakfast and dinner included, and a private vehicle handles all transfers and sightseeing. It suits groups of friends or families wanting a well-paced first introduction to the Eastern Himalayas, with fixed departures and shared coach options available for larger groups travelling together.
6 days planned
Land at Bagdogra airport or NJP railway station and drive around 4-5 hours through the Teesta valley to Gangtok at roughly 1,650 metres. Check into your hotel, rest from the altitude gain, and explore the MG Marg pedestrian street in the evening.
