About this journey
Built for travellers who want Meghalaya's real trekking, not just roadside viewpoints, this six-night trip pushes deeper into the Khasi and Jaintia hills. The highlight is the descent into Nongriat village to reach the famous double-decker living root bridge, an overnight stay among rubber-fig roots and river pools. You also visit Mawlynnong, repeatedly called Asia's cleanest village, and Dawki's glass-clear Umngot river for kayaking or a boat ride. Days mix moderate to strenuous walking with village homestay-style stops and Khasi guides who know the trails intimately. It suits adventurous couples, trekkers and small groups comfortable with steep steps, humidity and basic amenities in the deep valleys.
7 days planned
Land at Guwahati and drive roughly five hours up through Shillong to Cherrapunji, watching the terrain shift from tea gardens to pine ridges. Evening at leisure with a short walk to a viewpoint over the Bangladesh plains.
