Overview
Eight days following the Buddha's life across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. You begin at Bodh Gaya, where enlightenment came under the bodhi tree, and continue through the Vulture Peak at Rajgir and the ruined university at Nalanda. Varanasi brings the ghats and an evening aarti on the Ganga, Sarnath the site of the first sermon, and Kushinagar the reclining Buddha of the parinirvana. A Buddhist-studies guide travels with the group, meditation sittings are scheduled at Bodh Gaya and Sarnath, and stays are in comfortable, quiet hotels near each site.
